Tamil Nadu Solar – 226 MW to be commissioned by January 2014

After weeks of suspense, 29 developers will be issued Letters of Intent for a total of 226 MW. The Hindu reported this today, and the report says that the board of Tangedco Board of Directors have approved this selection. It may be recalled that bids were received for a total of 499 MW and the lowest bid was Rs. 5.97 /kWh. Tangedco later came up with a workable tariff of Rs. 6.48/kWh. While the final number fell way short of the 1000 MW target, it is still a good number on its own.
According to the report, load flow studies have already started and the developers will be required to commission the projects by January 2014. The report is available here.
