Following the steep downward revision of REC prices and the removal of vintage multiplier by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission(CERC) (details of the CERC order here), several REC-generator filed petitions in Supreme Court seeking relief. Based on the petition, Supreme Court has stayed the new price regime and also stayed the trading.
According to Business Standard, ” REC generators moved the Appellate Tribunal of Electricity (APTEL), asking it to suggest means of clearing the existing stock of RECs. While APTEL agreed to clear the stock by using the ‘Vintage Multiplier’ method it did not agree to put a stay on the REC trading”
